Latest Project

When Emily came along, I swore I was going to purchase all new baby furniture. Then I pulled out the baby furniture that Ethan and Adam used and I realized that it was still rather nice and in good shape, but all that I really wanted was a different color. For most of you who know me, I am always painting something (usually my house). So, I decided to paint our dark mahogany crib and dresser white. I actually love it! It however took a really long time, I should have purchased a paint sprayer in the first place and I would have been finished within two days. I will have to post a picture of the dresser later. I am in the process of purchasing new drawer pulls.

I love the color red, and I adore ladybugs. I actually really liked them before they became popular. Since this will be my only girl, I thought I would throw the two things together. I even did some really cute art work that match the bedding (I'll post these later, once everything is in place).

A Quilt To Remember

Emily received this beautiful quilt in the mail today. It is from Dan's aunt Joyce (his dad's sister). We were very excited when we opened the package to find one of her famous quilts inside. She has won many prizes and has been featured in articles and magazines. As you can tell from the pictures, there is a lot of detailed work involved in her quilts. She is amazing!

If you are interested, here is a web page with another one of her winning quilts. http://www.road2ca.com/2006winnersimages/winners.html

A Friday to Remember

This Friday was a little crazy for me - to say the least. We had Adams 3rd birthday party from 11:00-12:15 and then I headed off to the church to set up and decorate for our wards family pizza night.

Adam wanted a T-Rex party. We invited seven of his friends over for a fun filled party full of dinosaurs, games, cake and goodies. I read online how someone had set out all of her son's toy dinosaurs in the main room, letting the kids play for a while. I thought this sounded like a good idea. It would keep the kids busy until everyone had arrived to play games. I didn't realize how many dinosaurs Ethan and Adam had in their collections (20)! I know this sounds crazy, but Dan and I have only bought a few of them. The rest have come from grandparents and friends.

Dan blew up a picture of a triceratops, so the kids could play pin the nose on the triceratops. We also had four different dinosaur pictures that the kids could color, then we would open presents and have cake. But, we ended up not playing any of the games. The kids were having to much fun playing with all of the toy dinosaurs :o)
He had two previous birthday cakes where he was able to blow out candles, the first was when both grandparents were here and the second was the day of his birthday. So, instead of making a huge Dino cake I made cake cones, they are so cute. They look like vanilla ice cream cones with sprinkles. I then topped them with an assortment of dinosaur rings.

Adam had a great time! He loved all of his gifts and has been playing with them everyday since.

Happy "3" Birthday Adam

I can't believe that Adam turns 3 today! I know this sounds corny, but where did the time go? This morning when Adam got up, we all wished him Happy Birthday, and if you know Adam you would know the face, his little sheepish grinning face. His only response to me was, "when is my T-Rex party"? When I told him it wasn't until Friday, he rolled his eyes, whined and walked away. Adam has three loves in his life, his paci, blanket and dinosaurs (the order never changes).

Sorry to all the grandparents who are calling to wish him a happy birthday. He is being rather stubborn, he has declined two phone calls already. Dan left for work around 5:30 or 6:00 this morning (I can't keep up), so he called and started singing happy birthday to Adam (on speaker phone). Adam thought this was rather humorous. But when I started singing with Dan, I was told to stop, where is the love?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM, WE LOVE YOU!!!

The BUMBO

A friend of mine told me about these super cool chairs for babies, the "bumbo". She asked if I wanted to borrow hers since she was going to put it in storage, so I decided to give it a try. Emily loves it, she loves being able to sit up! I would definitely recommend these to all of my friends. It has definitely helped to improve her neck control.

First Real Homework Assignment

This last week of school, Ethan has been learning all about bears. He has learned how to draw, write and spell everything pertaining to bears (head, ears, legs, etc.. you get the point). Tomorrow they are having a bear parade and picnic. He was given the assignment of creating a float out of a box for his favorite teddy bear. They were told they could decorate them any way that they wanted. Ethan decided he wanted lots and lots of stickers, as you will be able to tell from the pictures. All I have left to do now is attach a string or rope to the front of the box, so he can pull it along during his parade. He is very excited to say the least!
